- כְּבַלch. sam(כבלkabul), part. pass. כְּבִיל, f. כְּבִילָא impeded, detained. Targ. Koh. 12:4 ריגלך כְּבִילָןוכ׳ thy feet are detained from going out (h. text סגרו). Pa. כַּבֵּל same; part. pass, מְבַבַּל, f. מְכַבְּלָא tied up, (cmp. עצר) sterile. Sabb.54a (ref. to 1 Kings 9:13, v. preced.; v. חוּמְטוֹן) ואמרו אינשי ארעא מ׳ דלא עבדא פרי (Ms. O. מְכַבַּלְתָּא) and people say, it is a tied up land, which bears no fruits.
